Events on the dashboard

The Overview → Events card summarizes custom events in the selected report. Automatic pageviews are traffic rather than custom events, so they appear under Views, Pages and the activity log instead of this card.

Count and share

Count shows occurrences per custom-event name. Share expresses each name as a percentage of the total custom-event count. A custom event can occur more than once for the same visitor; counts are not unique people. If the card is empty while Views has traffic, the website has not sent a custom event in this period.

Expand the card to search every event name in Count, load more rows and sort by count; Share expands to its saved top rows only. See inspect a result.

Filter by event

Click a row in Count to select that custom-event name. The Overview uses matching sessions as its filter scope. Remove the event chip above the KPIs to clear it. Create funnel beside the active filters opens an unsaved funnel draft with that event as its first step and preserves the date range. See creating a funnel.

Inspect individual records

Use Activity log on this card to open the activity log on its Events tab. The date range and any selected custom-event name carry over; other Overview session filters do not. You can also open Events from the sidebar. Top events on the log returns to this card with the same range. To add an event, follow custom events; to compare a sequence, use funnels.
