Metric definitions

Metric What Seean counts
Visitors Distinct reported visitor identifiers in the selected data.
Visits Distinct visitor/session combinations.
Views Events named pageview.
Bounce rate Share of sessions with at most one pageview.
Session time Average time between the first and last recorded activity in a session.
Net Accepted order amounts minus full refunds in the selected report.

Visitors and sessions

The tracker stores a random visitor identifier in localStorage and session information in sessionStorage. A new session starts after 30 minutes of inactivity, when the clock moves backward, or when a different tagged campaign starts. Different browsers or cleared storage can create separate visitor identifiers.

These numbers count observed activity; they are not a census of people. A visitor who blocks collection is not included.

Interpret time and bounce

A session with one recorded activity has zero measured duration. Seean cannot determine how long someone stayed after their final recorded activity. A custom event does not add a pageview, so a session may contain custom events and still have only one view.

Compare results

The previous-period comparison uses the selected period’s preceding interval. Use the same range and filters when comparing reports. Revenue setup is required before Net can represent your orders.
