Billing and usage

The available reports and tools stay the same. Only the monthly event volume changes.

Trial

15 days from signup, no credit card, with a 100K-event monthly allowance shared across your websites. When it ends, your website dashboards and the multi-site overview lock until you pick a volume in Billing; Billing, account and website settings stay open. Seean keeps counting visitors at the trial allowance for 14 more days, so subscribing within that window leaves no gap in your data and the dashboards open immediately after checkout, without reinstalling. After those 14 days, collection stops until a plan is active. The lock covers every way of reading the data: team members see a locked dashboard, share links and embeds show as unavailable, public profiles are hidden, revenue order and refund lists, imported traffic, Search Console results, raw event, order and refund exports, report downloads and emailed reports, and API keys are refused, and scheduled reports and traffic alerts pause. All of it returns as soon as a plan or complimentary allowance is active. Existing history remains subject to the retention policy.

Three emails mark the trial: a welcome message when your address is verified, a reminder three days before the trial ends, and a notice the day after it ends that names the date collection stops. The last two go only to accounts that have not chosen a plan yet, and all three link to Billing.

The Overview shows the remaining trial time beside the starting price and Upgrade button in two equal columns on desktop; on smaller screens the price follows the trial message. Choose Upgrade to open Billing and select a plan. An exhausted allowance shows why collection is paused and the same route to Billing; an expired trial replaces the dashboards with Choose a plan, and the websites list says until when visitors are still counted, or since when collection has stopped.

What counts

A collected pageview or custom event counts toward the event allowance. Traffic rejected by basic bot filtering or your exclusion rules does not count. Browser presence signals used by Realtime are free: they add no events or Web Vitals samples. Web Vitals use a separate sample allowance of five times the plan’s event volume; updates to an existing metric sample do not add a new sample.

Plans

The pricing page and homepage show all six event allowances as selectable prices. Click or tap an allowance, or focus the price choices with Tab and use the arrow keys to change the selection. The lighthouse light and underline move together to the selected price, which is also announced to screen readers. Use Monthly or Yearly, 2 months free to show the amount billed for that period; yearly plans still have a monthly event allowance. These controls preview published prices and do not change your subscription. Choose Start free for 15 days to open signup, or manage an existing subscription in Billing.

In the homepage presentation, pricing enters through the same grain-like pigment transition used by the visual story. Continuing to scroll moves the selected light across the six allowances until it reaches 10M. Scrolling back reverses that sequence. The dedicated pricing page leaves selection under your direct control.

The lighthouse light follows the selected allowance from the lantern in the coastal illustration. The pricing page preloads this lightweight image because it is above the fold; the homepage loads it at low priority as the pricing chapter approaches, without taking priority from the story films. The light and underline move together when the selected allowance changes. With reduced motion enabled they change without animation. The pricing page uses ordinary page scrolling, without moving section frames. If the illustration cannot load, the same pricing controls remain usable. Without JavaScript, the published monthly prices and signup link remain visible; see the table below for both billing periods.

The pricing page’s A few details, made clear section groups answers under Share links, Roll-up, Refunds, CSV exports, Your trial and Usage limits. Select a topic to read its answer and open the related guide. When a topic has keyboard focus, Left and Right move between topics, Home and End jump to the first or last, and Tab moves into the selected answer. Without JavaScript, all six answers remain visible.

Prices exclude local taxes. Yearly billing includes two months free. Payments are handled by Polar.

Manage your subscription

Settings → Billing shows your plan, this month’s usage and the date the plan renews or ends. A verified account email is required for every action here.

• Cancel subscription asks for confirmation, then stops renewal. The plan stays active until the end of the paid period; nothing is refunded. The page then shows Ends on with that date.
• Resume subscription appears while a cancelled plan is still active and turns renewal back on.
• Show invoices lists your latest 12 payments with date, status and amount including tax. Download opens an existing invoice from Polar. For a payment without an invoice yet, Download first shows the billing name and address the invoice will carry: an invoice cannot be changed once created, so correct the details in the billing portal before choosing Create invoice. Polar prepares the document within a few seconds; choose Download again to open it. A payment without a billing name and address offers only the billing portal, where you add them.
• Payment method and billing details opens Polar’s customer portal in the same tab and returns to Billing. Card details are entered only on Polar’s page.

Plan and cancellation changes appear on the page once Polar confirms them, usually within seconds. If you return from checkout before that and choose a plan again, Billing answers that your payment was received and the plan is being activated instead of opening a second checkout. A subscription that is set to end must be resumed before its plan can be changed. Checkout, plan changes, cancelling, resuming, creating an invoice and opening the portal are limited to five in quick succession and twenty an hour per account. Listing and downloading invoices has its own, larger limit and never uses up that allowance. When a limit is reached, Billing says so; wait a few minutes. A subscription that is past due or unpaid cannot be cancelled, resumed or switched here; the plan button opens the customer portal instead. Show invoices and the portal button stay available after a subscription has ended. Deleting your account also stops renewal; restoring it within 14 days turns renewal back on.

Seean support may attach a complimentary event allowance to an account. Billing identifies that allowance separately. With an allowance and no subscription, Your plan reads Complimentary plan with the monthly volume and states that the account has no subscription or payment method; the subscription buttons do not appear because there is nothing to cancel or invoice (an account that paid before keeps Show invoices and the portal button). In the price list, Current marks the volume your account has now, paid or complimentary. A paid plan shows its volume and whether it is billed monthly or yearly. With both a subscription and a larger complimentary allowance, Current marks the subscribed volume, the one a plan change replaces. It is a minimum entitlement: it does not change Polar subscriptions, invoices or renewal dates, and it never reduces a larger known paid allowance. During a temporary provider failure, Seean uses the larger of the grant and the finite paid allowance already recorded for the current month. When the grant is removed, the active paid plan or remaining trial applies again without resetting usage.

At the limit

Pageview/custom-event or Web Vitals collection pauses when its respective allowance is reached. Presence can continue on an active plan without consuming either allowance. Allowances reset monthly; a plan upgrade can increase them. An expired trial stops collection 14 days after the trial ends, until a paid plan is active. Rejected events are not stored for later replay. Existing records remain subject to the retention policy.

Usage is counted across your websites for the current month. Changing plans recalculates the remaining allowance without resetting usage already collected; deleting a website does not refund its account usage.

Usage history

Settings → Usage (shown to the website owner) lists the last six calendar months of events and Web Vitals samples counted across every website you own, plus the blocked bot requests that were rejected before counting, the current period with its start and end dates, the date usage resets and how many events remain this month. Months follow UTC: usage resets on the first day of each month at 00:00 UTC, whatever your subscription renewal date. Usage from deleted or reset websites stays in these totals.

The sidebar shows an events meter for the current month. Hide the usage meter in the sidebar on the Usage section hides it for your account on every device; Billing keeps showing the current usage.

Temporary billing lookup failures

If the billing provider is temporarily unavailable, collection can continue only against an already known, finite allowance recorded for the current UTC month. It never switches to unlimited collection. A missing cached allowance returns 503; an exhausted measurement allowance or inactive plan returns 402 for the affected measurement. Presence can use a cached active allowance without charging it. The browser tracker does not retain rejected requests for later replay, so verify collection after a provider outage. Existing usage is not reset by a retry, site reset or site deletion.
